Actually, we have no control over rain, snow, sleet, wind, lightning or sunshine. But we can control what happens on our job as a result of the elements. Some of the biggest problems on construction jobs are caused by wind and lightning.
Studies show that most teens are often unaware of their rights as workers, and because they don't have the experience of older workers, they don't easily recognize workplace dangers. A combination of youthful energy and a reluctance to ask questions also increases the chances of an injury at the workplace.
While guards may often appear to be a hindrance, overall they have proven to be otherwise. They have made large contributions to both security and production. Greater machine speeds have made possible through proper guarding, and certainly the conscientious employee works with greater confidence knowing that a machine offers maximum protection.
There are various ways to experience slips and/or falls while working. You can slip and lose your balance; you can trip over an object left in a walkway; or you can fall from an elevated position such as a ladder or stairs.
